Microblading Aftercare: Getting the Healing Right

1a2aaf79a1b749a2bc52043c556764b7Microblading Aftercare: What to Do (and Avoid) While You Heal

The strokes are done, but the results aren’t finished yet — how you care for your brows over the following weeks plays a huge role in how they ultimately settle and heal.

The First Few Days: Expect Bold, Not Final

Right after your session, brows will look noticeably darker and more defined than the eventual result. This is completely normal — pigment always appears more intense immediately after application, before softening as the skin heals. Try not to judge the final look based on these first few days.

Keep It Dry

For the first several days, avoid getting the brow area wet during showers, and steer clear of swimming, saunas, and heavy sweating. Excess moisture can interfere with how the pigment settles into the skin during the critical early healing window.

Don’t Pick, Don’t Scratch

As healing progresses, some light flaking or scabbing over the strokes is normal. It’s tempting to pick at it, but doing so can pull pigment out unevenly, leaving patchy results. Letting flakes come away naturally on their own protects the evenness of your final result.

Skip Makeup on the Area

Avoid applying makeup directly over the brow area until healing is complete, since products can introduce bacteria to healing skin or interfere with pigment retention.

Stay Out of the Sun

Sun exposure on freshly treated brows can cause pigment to fade unevenly or change tone during healing. Keeping the area protected — and continuing sun protection well after healing — also helps maintain colour longevity over the following months and years.

Avoid Active Skincare Ingredients

Retinol, exfoliating acids, and other active ingredients should be avoided around the brow area until healing is fully complete, as they can cause pigment to fade prematurely.

The Touch-Up Appointment Matters

A touch-up, usually scheduled around 4–6 weeks after your initial session, is a normal part of the process — not a sign anything went wrong. It allows any unevenness from the healing process to be corrected and colour to be perfected once your skin has fully settled.

Patience Pays Off

The difference between brows that heal beautifully and ones that end up patchy often comes down to how closely aftercare instructions are followed during these first few weeks. It’s a short window of care for a result that lasts a long time.

Angel is amazing, and truly an artist. You can tell that she really enjoys what she is doing. When I came I had issues with the shape of my brows due to overplucking when I was younger. You can’t even tell now. Thank you for your work ♡
